The young people of today would have a very hard time imagining the world without the internet. They would hardly know what a dial-up modem is, or the fact that at one time internet connection speed was so slow that it could take 24 hours to download just one file. The rate of growth of the internet is amazing. Not only has there been an incredible increase in speed over the years, but now there has been an increase in ways it is used as well as the amount of information that can be transferred at once. There was a time that the idea of playing a video online would have seemed impossible, but now it is very common place. The internet has gone from keeping people tied to their desktops at home, to being more mobile with the creation of the laptop, to even more condensed and mobile through cell phones. Many people now enjoy iPad’s because of the bigger viewing screens. In the past, it would have been hard to imagine that you could touch the screen and be able to manipulate a game, or move files, select photos and more. Technology is just amazing. The question now is what is the next advancement going to be. Are we going to be able to have a screen open up in front of our eyes, right there is the air? Or maybe it will be the transfer of three-dimensional objects, or maybe even the scents of things. Whatever it is, you can expect that it will continue to be mobile, fast, and easy to use.  |
